Playing as a guest
You can play without an account. Your progress (gold, unlocks, mission records, squad and settings) is saved in your browser's local storage on your device. It is not sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes it.
Accounts
If you create an account we store your chosen username, a salted hash of your password (never the password itself), your gold, experience, purchases and mission results (mission, rating, time, outcome) so that your progress follows you between devices and your times can appear on the mission leaderboards next to your username. A session cookie named trident_session keeps you signed in for up to 30 days; it contains a random token only. We do not ask for an email address or any other personal data. To delete your account and its data, email us from the address below with your username and we will remove it within 14 days.
Advertising
Ghost Fire shows banner advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, and read how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Visitors in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom are shown a consent message by Google before personalised ads are served. The offline Limited Edition on itch.io contains no advertising.
Analytics and logs
Our hosting provider (Vercel) keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security and operations. We use no third-party analytics scripts. Failed sign-in attempts are rate-limited by IP address for ten minutes to protect accounts.
Children
Ghost Fire is a fictional military tactics game intended for players aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
